Barbie Mayfield entered ACW using a farmer’s daughter gimmick. ACW were surprised when she ended up shocking everyone when she was victorious as the 2001 D-Cup tournament in Japan. Thereafter she was burdened with living up to her early success and for someone like Barbie, partying was a way of life while training was not. Her is a lesson for all young catfighters.
Hers is a storybook rise to championship status, but her story seems like a cross between an episode of the television show “Hee-Haw” and the movie “Pretty Woman.”
Her real name is Barbara Jean Kathryn Mayfield but her father nicknamed her “Sunshine.” She grew up in Hickory Hills, Arkansas and seems like the last person ready to make it to the big time. She exploded onto the scene when she won the First Annual “Why I Want To Be An ACW Girl” essay contest. Wanting to leave Hickory Hills in search of glamour and fame, she enrolled in the Chicago DoJo of the ACW Training Academy.
Although lacking in technical skills, she more than made up for her deficiencies by employing brute strength and unorthodox maneuvers and has surprised everyone with her early success – everyone but herself! “I’m not really surprised. I was always rasslin’ with boys in Daddy’s truck or in Mr. Jenkins’ meadow and they all said that I held my own against them. That’s funny though, because they always kept trying to hold their own against me??!?!”
Barbara Jean (or Barbie as she prefers) felt she was ready to face ACW champion Heaven for the title but legendary trainer Tanako X sent her to Japan for some seasoning in the 17th annual D-Cup tournament. She shocked everyone when she defeated an International field of opponents to win the tournament.

She returns to ACW with a great deal of optimism as she looks to take on challengers like Dominique LeMonde and Dixie Monroe. She will really have to budget her time, however, as she is being approached for magazine and television interviews focusing on her “overalls to riches” success. Time will tell whether she will improve her technical skills enough to hold on to her title, but in the meantime she plans to enjoy her time as a champion. “I already used part of my winner’s share and bought us a double-wide for back home!”
