It's often difficult to follow in the footsteps of an older sibling. For Tabitha Van Dyne, this is doubly so. Tabitha was born in Los Angeles, California and like many younger sisters, she lived in the shadow of her older sister Veronica. Veronica was the head cheerleader at her high school and the prom king. She was also the valedictorian for her class and received a scholarship to attend DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Thus, for Tabitha, it seemed that her life would consist of never-ending comparisons to Veronica. Tabitha had a lot going for her as well. While she would not be named valedictorian, she was very smart and received very good grades. She also competed in cheerleading, basketball and field hockey and was considered by most of her classmates to be absolutely beautiful.
With so much going for her, it was surprising when Tabitha began getting in trouble in school and developed a reputation as a serious party girl. When her sister called to talk to her about her behavior, Tabitha would have none of it and refused to talk to her sister for months afterward. Despite her problems she graduated near the top of her class and was left to decide what she would do next. Still wanting to party every night, Tabitha decided to attend a local community college where she could ensure that she could stay out all night and still be able to perform well in class. When she turned 19 years old, she celebrated her birthday with a wild night out with her friends. Unfortunately, one of her friends got into an altercation with another bar patron and the police got involved. Checking ID's, they arrested Tabitha for underage drinking. Again Veronica contacted her sister and again Tabitha had no interest in what she had to say, telling Veronica to "fuck off."
Her anger towards her sister continued until months later when she received word that Veronica had suffered a serious injury in Japan. When Veronica returned to Chicago, Tabitha got on the first plane and flew to be with her. After deciding to stay in Chicago for a while, Tabitha enrolled at DePaul University. She also wanted to earn some money and began pestering her older sister to get her a tryout with ACW. Veronica finally relented and Tabitha impressed ACW trainers with her athleticism.
Her first match pitted her against Malaysia. While Tabitha accorded herself well, she was outclassed by the muscular veteran. She lost her next three matches before finally defeating fellow rookie Miranda Alexander. Over the course of the next year she won half of her matches and was scheduled to face her sister. Before the match could happen, however, Veronica was injured and was forced to retire.
On her own, Tabitha continued with limited success but continued to balance her wrestling with her schoolwork. Eventually she found herself near graduation and surprised everyone when she applied to law school to again follow in her sister's footsteps. A week after her graduation she found out that she was accepted to law school but the next day, she took part in her match against Terrible Taylor Wilson. Wilson took the opportunity to punish the younger girl, causing serious injuries. Tabitha was out of action for five months and when she returned she struggled mightily, suffering 13 straight losses. Contemplating retirement she decided instead to balacing wrestling with law school and finally won a match over Dixie Monroe.
Whether her career in law with overshadow her apartment wrestling career, one thing is for certain - she will no longer have to exist in the shadow of her sister.
