I was very saddened to learn that our Champion Megan Jones (real name Stephanie Hird), has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer. She noticed in June that a lump had developed on her neck and went through a battery of tests until she was finally diagnosed.
She will be undergoing at least 12 rounds of chemotherapy. One of the side effects from this is the possibility that the treatments will affect her fertility (her oncologist said the chances are about 50%). Because she would like to be a mother one day, she is looking to undergo the process of harvesting her eggs and having them frozen. This falls outside the scope of her insurance coverage and because of the illness and the treatment, she is unable to work at this time.
Megan has set up a GOFUNDME crowdsourcing page here: http://www.gofundme.com/medhelp to raise funds for the harvesting procedure and the medication involved.
I have worked with Megan for more than five years and I want to say from a personal and professional perspective that she is a very nice woman, and has always worked very hard for ACW in order to bring entertainment to catfighting fans. Her professionalism and reliability has always made her easy to work with and a joy to be around.
(I would hope that I wouldn’t have to say so, but this is not a joke or in any way a part of a storyline).
If you believe in the power of prayer, I would ask that you please pray for her recovery and for her to be able to realize her dream of becoming a mother one day. If you are able to, please consider donating to her fund. If all of her fans were to donate as little as $5.00, it would go a long way toward helping her.
